Aliens at the Rodeo:Music and Lyrics by Alan Nafzger
Verse 1
Well, the aliens landed down at the arena,
Saw that bull buckin’ and thought, “Now we know.”
They said, “That must be the leader of Earth,
With all that stompin’, he’s got to be worth
Our time to chat, to strike a deal,
This horned creature’s got political appeal!”
Chorus
They bowed to the bull, called him “Your Highness,”
But ol’ Buck the Bull just showed his wildness.
They bowed to the bull, calling him “Your Grace,”
But Buck just kicked dirt all over the place.
Verse 2
The aliens brought him a tractor of gold,
Said, “For peace between our worlds, be bold.”
But Buck just snorted, pitched ’em in the air,
They said, “Wow, diplomacy’s rare!”
They tried to talk, but it didn’t go well,
Their spaceship got a hoof in the tail.
Chorus
They bowed to the bull, called him “Your Highness,”
But ol’ Buck the Bull just showed his wildness.
They bowed to the bull, calling him “Your Grace,”
But Buck just kicked red dirt in their face.
Bridge
They tried to ride him, but it didn’t last,
Sent those aliens flyin’ mighty fast.
They said, “Earth’s leader sure knows his stuff,
Guess diplomacy here’s kinda rough!”
Chorus
They bowed to the bull, called him “Your Highness,”
But ol’ Buck the Bull just showed his wildness.
They bowed to the bull, calling him “Your Grace,”
But Buck just kicked dirt all over the place.
Bridge
They figured out the king of this planet ain’t a man
but a buckin’ bull takin’ his stand.
So if you ever meet some folks from Mars,
Tell ‘em Earth’s leader’s got hooves and scars!
Outro
They bowed to the bull, declaring “Your Grace,”
But Buck showed them all how to pick up the pace.
They stretched out their hand, but he gored ’em quick,
Earth’s bull leader’s got moves they can’t predict.
Aliens at the Rodeo
by Alan Nafzger (1998)
Out on the plains under the sky so wide,
The aliens came with their starry-eyed pride.
They landed near the rodeo’s main gate,
Lookin’ for Earth’s leader—they couldn’t wait.
They saw Buck the Bull in his buckin’ pen,
Thought he was the king of all Earthly men.
With a snort and a charge, he gave ’em a show,
Sent those poor aliens flying, row by row.
“Your Highness!” they cried, as they bowed to the beast,
While Buck kept on buckin’, not botherin’ the least.
They offered him peace and a glowing crown,
But Buck just threw ’em face-first to the ground.
The cowboys laughed, the crowd went wild,
As those aliens fled, lookin’ awfully riled.
Now they’ll tell tales of the leader they found—
A four-legged king in a rodeo town.
