(Verse 1)
Well, I went to the first Thursday art walk,
Not a boot in sight, just a lot of small talk.
Made some Farm dot FM CDs, sat ‘em down on the table,
But two takers only — thought western music was noble.
They said, “Is this music modern art?” with a confused look,
I knew right then, this town’s worse than I ever mistook.
(Chorus)
This town sucks, there ain’t no farms in sight,
They got yoga studios and overpriced lattes at night.
Farm-to-table? Yeah, more like farm-to-tofu,
If you’re lookin’ for some real life, this ain’t the place for you.
This town sucks, I’m too country for their ways,
My truck’s takin’ up two compact spots, guess I won’t stay.
(Verse 2)
Went to the farmer’s market, thought I’d find my own,
But all I got was microgreens in a jar — now I’m headin’ home.
They asked if I wanted kombucha, I said, “No, I raise beef,”
They looked at me like I was causing some political scene.
The Mayor’s got three chickens and thinks he’s a farm king,
In my book, if you’ve got no cattle, you ain’t doin’ a thing.
(Chorus)
This town sucks, there’s no mud on their boots,
Their barns are boutiques, and their hats ain’t for pickin’ fruit.
Line dancin’ night was more like a circus show,
I tried a two-step, but they’re all lost in the glow.
This town sucks, where’s the hay and grain?
They’re out here sellin’ ‘artisan’ like we’re all insane.
(Bridge)
They built a roundabout where there shoulda been a road,
My cows know how to steer better than this load.
Speed limits change more than undies in this town,
Tryin’ to haul my hay, but I’m stuck slowin’ down.
(Verse 3)
Tried to sell my hay, they said, “We’re all stocked up,
Got organic hay from Cali, so thanks, but good luck.”
Farm-to-table, but they don’t want my beef,
Vegan taco’s are their weird belief.
Even tried to sell ‘em eggs, they said, “Nah, we’re cool,”
Turns out ‘local’ means 1000 miles from the high school.
(Chorus)
This town sucks, they’re posin’ in flannel for show,
They got boots too clean, and they don’t even know.
I grow corn, not followers, but they don’t care,
I’m just stuck in a town that thinks rural is the county fair.
This town sucks, it ain’t where I belong,
So I’ll start my old truck when I finsh singin’ this song.
(Outro)
Yeah, this town sucks, it’s a city in disguise,
But I’ll take my farm life, no matter how they roll their eyes.
This town sucks, but I’m too stubborn to bend,
So I’ll keep raisin’ cattle, even if they don’t comprehend.
