Verse 1
Well, the sun’s settin’ low over fields of gold,
I’m wearin’ boots covered in two weeks’ old mud.
It’s time to roll the tractor, and the hay’s been rolled,
But before we turn in, we’re hittin’ the honkytonk club.

Pre-Chorus
There’s a dance floor waitin’, just a mile from the farm,
Where the beer’s ice-cold, and they turn on the charm.
It’s harvest season, so let’s gather ’round,
The crops ain’t the only thing gettin’ pulled from the ground.

Chorus
It’s a honkytonk harvest, y’all, kickin’ up dust,
Swingin’ through the barn doors, ’cause dance we must.
Got a fiddle in the corner and the steel guitar,
We’re two-steppin’ right under a harvest star.
It’s a honkytonk harvest, raisin’ some hell,
From the cornfield rows to that old motel.
Forget the hay bales, tonight we’ll take a chance,
It’s a honkytonk harvest, let’s get up and dance!

Verse 2
Well, the combine’s restin’, the cows are fed,
But my boots ain’t ready for no bed.
The jukebox is callin’, it’s time to unwind,
Gonna leave the chores and the worries behind.

Pre-Chorus
There’s a cold one waitin’ and a girl in a hat,
She’s dancin’ so fine in her cowboy boots and plaid.
The crops did their growin’, and now it’s our turn,
The honkytonk fire’s just waitin’ to burn!

Bridge
We’ve been plowin’, plantin’, sweatin’ in the sun,
Now it’s time to reap what’s sown and have some fun.
With a whiskey in one hand and boots in the air,
We’re harvestin’ joy, without a care.

Outro
Yeah, it’s a honkytonk harvest, y’all know it’s true,
Where the crops meet the dance floor, that’s where I’ll be with you!

HonkyTonk Harvest -- A vibrant scene at a honkytonk club under a harvest moon. The floor is packed with cowboys and cowgirls, boots kicking up dust as they two-step to the1.

Honkytonk Harvest – Cowboy Poetry (1999)

By Alan Nafzger

When the sun sinks low and the day’s work is done,
Boots caked in mud, but the night’s just begun.
Fields of gold stretch as far as you can see,
But it’s the honkytonk lights that are callin’ to me.

The tractor’s parked, the cows are fed,
But that ol’ jukebox is ringin’ in my head.
The fiddle’s hummin’, the steel guitar sings,
Tonight, it’s not just crops we’re harvestin’.

It’s a honkytonk harvest under the moon so bright,
Where boots meet floor and stars take flight.
We’ve plowed and planted, now it’s time for fun,
In the glow of the bar, we’re dancin’ till dawn.

Whiskey’s poured, the dust starts to rise,
A cowgirl twirls with fire in her eyes.
The barn doors swing, the laughter’s high,
Under the harvest star, we’re touching the sky.

The fields will grow, and the seasons will change,
But the honkytonk rhythm will stay the same.
With every dance, we let go of the weight,
Of the harvest season and that farm gate.

So here’s to the crops, the work that we know,
And to the honkytonk where we let it all go.
We reap what we’ve sown with every step in time,
It’s a honkytonk harvest, in rhythm and rhyme.
